Osho, I feel was a Counter-Phobic Type 6 on The Enneagram. Once an extremely rebellious younger man, he became often simply grounded in ‘Being’ and spent over 3 years in almost complete silence. He was phenomenally well read which lent itself to his teachings, claiming to have read all of his 150,000 books in his personal library, thus satisfying a 5 wing that thirsted for knowledge before deciding he had read enough, most likely as he came to the awareness that, that in itself was just an attempt to satisfy his ego. He also often talked much of freedom and lived his life with much freedom in it as Enneatype 7’s wish to do. Commonly and quite deliberately controversial in his spiritual teachings to awaken people, he once was the largest single owner of Rolls-Royces in the world at that time – 93 of them, which were all given as gifts from his devotees! He didn’t believe that to live spirituality, you had to live in poverty! “I am a spiritual playboy”, he once replied to an interviewer who questioned his lifestyle as a spiritual teacher, “is there something wrong?” he playfully retorted…

His epitaph simply reads “OSHO Never Born, Never Died. Only Visited this Planet Earth between Dec 11 1931 – Jan 19 1990”. Here on this YouTube video he talks of his non-philosophy and non-mind teachings. Very central to his teachings was the only place we can rest in, is the present moment – which is devoid of mind. Whatever you thought of him, you couldn’t ignore him and he fascinated people whilst on this plane, and still continues to fascinate people well after he’s departed it.
